Cake Care
♠︎ ♧ ♥︎ ♢ ♠︎
1. it's fragile, hold from bottom
These babies are fragile, treat them like glass! Always hold the cake from the bottom to avoid smushing the sides. And although it may seem safer, avoid buckling your cake with a seatbelt for the same reason. I find the most success placing the cake in the passenger seat or the floor. Or even better bring a buddy along to hold the cake during the drive!
2. fridge/freeze asap
Buttercream will melt if exposed to high temperatures, so place your cake in the fridge as soon as possible. Never keep your cake in the car or in direct sunlight. Cakes without fruit filling can be frozen for over a month!
3. rest, then celebrate!
About an hour before you'd like to enjoy your cake, take it out the fridge and leave it on the table. This allows the cake to come to room temperature resulting in a softer cake.
If your cake has been frozen: Place it in the fridge 24 hours before you'd like to enjoy it. While thawing, condensation may form around the cake. If this happens don't panic, this is normal and will evaporate while in the fridge.
